Spring Selection

We offer our Spring Selection online as a reminder of the importance and joy of human creativity.

Among the highlights are Montague Dawson’s exhilarating evocation of a yacht race in the Solent, Reef down – six metre yachts off the Isle of Wight and Eugène Boudin’s sparkling Le Havre, Bassin de la Barre. Peter Lanyon’s Texan highway, made, when he was teaching at an art school in America in 1963, revels in the freedom and space of that country and its – and Lanyon’s – love of speed. Josef Albers’s Study for Homage to the Square pulsates with the vivid reds that epitomized for him lifeblood and love, while Barbara Hepworth’s polished bronze Two forms – Orkney, 1967, conjures up an ancient, myth-wreathed terrain. In addition, enjoy our spring flowers: Benjamin Williams Leaders’ Blue bells, 1858, and Frank Bramley’s delicate still life of Daffodils and narcissi, 1886, their glowing yellow and cream hues surely the essence of the season.
