DAY TWELVE

Eclipse I, 2025

Caramel Onyx:  38 cm diameter
Source: Morocco
Carved in 2025
Geology notes:
This stone forms by the falling of mineral rich water, and the subsequent
crystallisation of calcium carbonate, in caves or hot springs.

£25,000

DAY ELEVEN

Rising

Onyx (Calcite): 9 x 4 ¼ x 4 ¾ in / 23 x 11 x 12 cm
Source: Persia
Carved in 2025
Geology notes:
This crystal growth pattern is formed by calcite crystals that grow around cores formed by impurities within the calcite and gives this piece its particular pattern

£30,000

DAY TEN

Lapis Mask

Lapis Lazuli: 4 ¾ x 5 ¼ x 2 ¾ in / 12 x 13 x 7 cm
Source: Afghanistan
Carved in 2025
Geology notes:
Formed by marbles which were subjected to extremely high temperatures and pressure during large tectonic movements. The minerals which give this stone its colour are lazurite (blue), pyrite (gold-like glitter) and calcite (white veins).

£35,000

DAY NINE

The Touch

Giallo di Siena: 11 ¾ x 8 x 4 ¼ in / 30 x 20 x 11 cm
Source: Italy
Carved in 2025
Geology notes:
High pressure and temperatures related to the formation of the Apennines mountain chain, transformed an original sedimentary calcite/carbonate rock into marble. Fracturing in the rock, once exposed, allowed the formation of new calcite which filled the cracks. A presence of tiny amounts of iron oxide in between the calcite crystals gives the colouring. Artworks

£40,000

DAY EIGHT

Connemara Torso

Connemara marble: 26 3/8 x 9 x 3 in / 67 x 22.9 x 7.6 cm

Carved in 2021
Geology notes:
Connemara Marble has a primal past, formed from muddy marine sediments deposited in a shallow primal sea.

£50,000

DAY SEVEN

The Flowering Song of the Troubadour III or Speleothem Head I

Speleothem Stone [formed in caves]: 8 x 8 ⅝ x 8 ⅝ in / 20 x 22 x 22 cm
Carved in 2021
Geology notes:
Small speleothems formed by the dripping of mineral rich water in a cave. In these pieces new speleothems developed on remains of older ones.

£45,000

DAY SIX

Little Sky Head

Sodalite Syenite: 9 ¾ x 6 x 6 in / 25 x 15 x 15 cm
Source: Brazil
Carved in 2025
Geology notes:

Igneous syenite formed as molten rock cooled slowly deep within the earth. The mineral sodalite gives the vivid blue colouring.

£35,000

DAY FIVE

Moon Light 1, 2025

Onyx [Calcite]: 16.1 x 4.3 x 1.6 in / 41 x 11 x 4 cm
Source: Persia
Carved in 2025
Geology notes:
‘The term onyx is used to describe a variety of different stones formed from the residue left by mineral-rich water as it drips slowly through spaces in other rock forms. The wide range of colours, textures, crystal structures and figurations is what makes each piece unique and beautiful.’

£25,000

DAY FOUR

Solar Disc IV / III

Onyx (Calcite): 27 ½ in / 70 cm diameter
Source: Persia
Carved in 2011
Geology notes:
The crystal growth pattern shown in this piece is formed by calcite rich water that falls and settles horizontally in sedimentary layers over many hundreds of thousands of years. Perhaps in a cave, where water drips down, or on the bottom of a lake. The colours change as the dusts and minerals from the upper world are washed down over the long passage of time. The stone slowly grows around the microscopic particles of calcite giving this piece its particular nature.

£45,000

DAY THREE

Green Waters

Onyx (Calcite): 8 ¼ x 3 x 7 in / 21 x 8 x 18 cm
Age: during the last 2.6 million years
Source: Persia
Carved in 2025
Geology notes:
This beautiful crystal growth pattern is formed by calcite crystals that grow around cores formed by impurities within the calcite and gives this piece its particular colouration and form.

£30,000

DAY TWO

Celestial Head

Quartzite: 7 ½ x 4 ¾ x 5 ½ in / 19 x 12 x 14 cm
Source: Italy
Carved in 2025
Geology notes:
Quartz and quartzites are the hardest commonly found stones on earth; they are made of crystallised silicates and are the source of a wide variety of semi-precious stones. The colouring is amazingly variable.

£30,000

DAY ONE

River Torso IV

Macauba Quartzite: 34 x 10 x 4 cm
Source: Brazil
Carved in 2021
This stone is a fine blue and white quartzite, with very occasional and surprising spots of dark red. It was formed many hundreds of millions of years ago, in what is now Brazil. Its blue and white figurations remind me strongly of water. It's extremely robust. Huge deposits of sand have been deformed into very hard quartzites inside a large and extensive basin in the Brazilian state of Bahia ...’
